Daily: Stand Up
In order to make sure projects are moving on according to schedule, as well as to make sure Click Up is reflecting reality, the Dev Team will have a quick morning Stand Up Mon-Thurs (outside normal company StandUp) to discuss tasks for the day and the upcoming remainder of the week.
Most communication with CS will take place during this stand-up in ClickUp comments or quick side discussions. The CS team should have a general idea of where their tasks for the day fit in by 10am and whether tasks need to be rescheduled, moved, or an update communicated to the client.
- Objectives
- The CS team needs to be able to honestly and clearly communicate with their clients on task and project progress and have as much notice as possible should anything be falling outside the timeline.
- Developers should know how their day is going to play out and have confidence that the tasks assigned for that day can be completed in that day barring any issues that come up that extend the completion time for a task.
- Any tasks that need to interrupt the day should ideally be addressed by the CS during the morning Stand Up window so any affected tasks can be adjusted and moved early in the day leaving the affected CS time to update timelines and communicate to the client, etc. This should not be a regular occurrence. A few times a month is normal, a few times a week is a problem. It is also up to the interrupting CS to make sure the affected CS tasks are taken care of; it is not the developers responsibility to communicate and solve interrupted deadlines for other projects.
Stand Up Checklist
- Workload
- Review the workload for the day and make sure it reflects reality; make sure there is enough time in the day to accomplish all Urgent tasks and any overdue items.
- Overbooked
- When there are too many tasks for the day, identify which ones need to be moved and coordinate with the CS via a tagged comment and verify due date change.
- Rest of the Week
- Spend a moment and review the tasks remaining for the week and make sure they still look good for completion.
